Wisdom Teeth Wisdom teeth removal (where appropriate), can prevent several common negative dental conditions. While some people do have inadequate arch length or room in their mouth for wisdom teeth, most of us do not. Removal for the vast majority of the population is thus indicated. Food impaction, sore gums, and tooth decay are all possible conditions associated with partially erupted wisdom teeth. It is not uncommon to remove them at the recommendation of an orthodontist either before or after braces to prevent lower crowding or shifting from occurring. We remove most wisdom teeth in our office, referring only the most difficult cased to an oral surgeon. |
